Quick update

How rubbish have I been!! and this is just a quick catch up!

To be honest, I'm spending every waking hour with my little boy because its just brilliant, playing, watching and chatting to him and I just don't have any time for stuff like writing blogs!

The only reason I have 10 Min's now is cos hes sat watching the Waybuloo's which he absolutely loves.

Plus I'm starting my new job on Wednesday so time with Brodie has been my number one priority, although I'm only working 14 hrs a week to start and I know he will be in safe hands with Daddy and good Friend Liv, who has become a childminder for Brodie.

Now to fill you in on the last 2 mths in 5 mins
  • Chatting - he loves it! dif, takes after his mother, as he just doesn't shut up talking
  • Swimming - I have a fish boy! he loves it, we go to Puddleducks once a week and this is by far his best weekly activity, he hasn't even cried at being dunked underwater and he took part in underwater photo shoot last week.
  • Tears - we had our first ever tears on Halloween, and no not because of my costume! but because he was teething, had a cold and a chesty cough and was not a happy bunny. I think 4 and half months without tears is pretty impressive thought!
  • Standing - this little boy is showing more signs of standing up on his own than rolling over. He just wants to be on his feet all the time
  • Happy - the whole time I was pregnant I kept thinking I'm sure I'll have a devil child but I couldn't have been more wrong. He is sooo happy 95% of the time and only moans when hes tired, or I've forgotten to feed him! & trust me that doesn't happen often, to prove it, he is already over 17lbs!

Our next mission is sleeping through the night, but I'm not holding my breath on that one just yet!

I'm sure i'll be better with the blog post in the future, as the weather is getting grim so we're be out and about less, plus starting work again means i'll be getting use to a keyboard once again!

I'll post some photos soon...

Brodies 9 week update

Brodie is currently taking an afternoon nap, so I thought I would take the opportunity to update you all!

Talking

Brodie is now in full swing of babytalk.. From birth everyone has commented on how he had his mothers mouth and it turns out everyone was indeed correct! Little Brodie enjoys a good old natter, just like his mum! Making cute sounds that makes you melt from the inside.

The Bottle!

In Brodies eyes, this is the dreaded bottle! The past few weeks has been an up hill struggle trying to get him to take a bottle. It started off terrible, then when we finally thought we had the knack of it things went down hill again. Once he learnt to latch on himself to the boobie he was no longer interested in the bottle. Fingers crossed though, we have found the solution - place him on a pillow facing away from you and after 5 mins of trying he seems to get the nack of it! Lets hope it stays that way and gets easier the more we do!

The Boobie

Well, from the start I always said I would be happy if I managed to feed him for two months... well mission completed! He is now 9 weeks old and i'm still feeding, and to be honest not even thinking about stopping. It took us so long & much pain to get where we are today with it, that its now become enjoyable and so much easier! Plus every day you feeding counts so i'm just going to keep on going

Jabs

Brodie has his first jabs last Friday. Personally I was dreading taking him, I dont even like taking the 8 stone dog for her jabs let alone an ikle brodie.

But mummy pulled herself together and got through it ok! Brodie was fine, he cried a little for the first, screamed for 30 secs on the second leg and then slept for almost 4 hours!

I was going to suggest that they should do the rest of his jabs at night so i could get a nice hours kips too!

The Night

which leads us to an update on the nights. There really isnt much of a routine, if hes hungry hes awake and when hes not he sleeps! Typically a night consists of two feeds, one about 1-2am and the second between 5 -6am. This pattern can however spontanously go out the window and I found myself feeding every 2 hrs.

He did impress me the other night though by going 6 hours! The only problem was that I was still waking up as the boobs were leaking all over the place.. one of the joys of breastfeeding.

Weight

Finally.. Brodie last weighted in at 9 weeks old at 13lb 14. Yes he is a little bruiser!

6 Weeks and a Smile

Brodie is 6 weeks old today and has spent the last week keeping us entertained with his cheeky cute smile, although he seems to smile for daddy more which is just typicial!

He is also so alert to everything these days, he cant be left for 10 mins without getting bored. You can see his little clockworks going as he watches the dog, or takes in the flashy lights on his toys, even the light reflected on the blind gets his brain going but best of all is when he follows me around the room or looks up when i come in the room, that in itself is feels so rewarding and worth the sleepless nights!

On tuesday our once 7.7lb little boy weighted in at 11.14lb!!!! The health visitors are really pleased with how good hes doing.

I have to say i'm so surprized at how fast he has stopped being a newborn and grow into a little boy, each day keeping us entertained with some new noise or facial expressions.

Today we are off for the six week MOT and the starting point for me to exercise and get rid of my rather terrible flabby belly! Last week I had lost two stone, so only two more to go, although i'm sure my boobs take up a stone of that!
