Pregnancy Yoga, it’s a must!
But for all those pregnant ladies out there I can highly recommend finding your local Yoga for Pregnant Ladies Classes. I found details of our local class through my midwife. Be warned they do have a bit of a waiting list so get your name down sooner than later, you also need to be over 12 weeks to attend.
Now every Wednesday evening myself & fellow fat friend with twins, Becky join the rest of the gang for a hour of chat, relaxing and learning to breath…there is a skill to it honest!
Week one I must say was a bit of an eye opener. As the newbie’s, we were quite shocked about the detail some pregnant ladies go into, in fact we were like kids giggling at the back when one lady informed us she was booked for a C section but was hoping for a vaginal birth! Surely the correct description would be “natural birth” and I did have to stop myself from asking where else it would come out from? This was just the start, and the only example I can give incase kids are reading!
Well, after we got over the graphic details these guys go into we tried our hardest to conker the whole breathing thing.. Now these ladies are experts in this field, and many of them have gone through labour just using the breathing technique, how the hell!! I can ensure you I will be sticking to the gas & air. But when we stopped trying to catch up with everyone elses breathing and relaxed it did start to come easier.
The whole point of these classes is to move your body to allow more room for the baby to grow and to help make you both more comfortable, which, I can see will be of huge benefit as BabyTays gets bigger! Also, to learn how breathing can help in labour, if you’re stressed, can’t sleep and more importantly to help you control sickness! By the second week I can honest say I enjoyed it a lot more and started to see the benefits.
I also enjoy the fact that everyone sits around and talks about their pregnancy at the start, all these ladies are 30 weeks+ so its great to hear their stories, advice & even learn a bit about the dreaded L word, which up until these classes I’ve tried to avoid.
So yes this is differently something I would recommend to all your pregnant ladies! & of course popping to the pub after for an appletiser & chat finishes off the evening lovely.

The Bump!
While I was at it, I was brave and decided to measure the largest part. So what do you think I would measure at almost 18 weeks; bearing in mind that just 5 months ago I fit into my wedding dress with probably a 26in waist?
Well, your guess is probably nowhere near. My bump measures 38in, yes, that’s not a typo 38ins and I’m not even half way through my pregnancy.
To add to the surprise I took a tape measure to Tony aka Grumps to Babytays (instead of gramps) to compare. Tony, 59 today, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TONY is measuring at 44ins, only 6ins larger, and achieved over a much longer length of time….
I have a feeling I will be larger than Tony within the next month, and will probably be borrowing his clothes, oh god what a thought!!
Once Babytays arrives I have set Tony a challenge, who can slim down the quickest??
To make things interesting – TONY If you win, you will never have to babysit on a Saturday night, if I win ha ha ha your Saturday nights are looking very cosy at home -with a bambino!
Oh a brighter note, my boobs are growing in proportion to my bump - HAPPY DAYS!!

20 Week Scan
Look out for babytays first photos coming soon!!!
Emotional Rollercoaster...
Meaning that after the 12 weeks period (1st trimester), the blooming stage is suppose to kick in, well I can honestly say I’ve not yet been fortunate to experience this part and have had the pleasure of people telling me for 5 week now that “your be blooming soon” well blooming my ass!!! You’re all liars!!
Now don’t get me wrong, a number of pregnant women have a much worse time of it than me, so I know I am lucky, but the point of this blog is to give people my inside view…
I’m currently laid in bed at stupid o’clock, as in early cos I’ve had enough of today and tomorrow couldn’t possible come soon enough. I’m having what one might call a extremely emotional or hormonal day. A day when the water works can be started off at the slights thing for example me burning the sausages.. yes that’s right this incident brought on the water works and it didn’t stop there, the water works continued for at least the next hour off and on for the smallest, most stupid reasons, poor Mr T must wonder what emotional wreak he’s living with this week!! (note to myself: must thank Mr Tays for being a star once this is over!)
So after a completely shit day, waterworks evening I decided to have a nice shower and a bit of pampering to end the day on a brighter note… but oh no my trusted friend “Mr bloody sickness” had to make a reappearance, this being the final straw in which I decided to give up on today and hope tomorrow brings a bit more joy.
Tomorrow myself and fat with twins, friend Becky are going for our first session of yoga for pregnant ladies!

16 Week Check Up and Heartbeat
Yesterday was my 16-week check up with the midwife at 9am
My first dilemma of the day, the wee sample (yes you have to take one every time) but they baffle you with facts about how its not allowed to be the first wee of the day and it shouldn’t be after having something sweet to drink, so bang goes my morning cup of tea as I’m a two sugar girl. Your probably wondering why this is a dilemma, well when you don’t typically get up until 8am (at a push) there are only so many times you go to the toilet in 45 mins, so morning cuppa was exchanged for some refreshing glasses of water. Mission accomplished and I set off to the docs.
Claire Sweet is my midwife, this is my second time meeting her and she is lovely! Just the sort of person you would like as a midwife, although I will point out she wont be there when I actually go through the traumatic experience of delivering babytays (although we don’t think or talk about that part yet).
First off check the wee sample, all OK, next is the blood pressure and as usually, it is low.
Next are the blood test results from my previous appointment at 12 weeks. All results are all OK including the HIV, which is always a good thing.
You might be wondering what I’m talking about but when your pregnant they test you for HIV & Hepatitis along with a number of other things. Now you might think nothing of this but seriously its not till you have the test you start to think “bloody hell what if I did have it” I have to be honest and say I have made stupid mistakes in the past but its not big and not clever so don’t try it at home kids!! Your be pleased to hear they all come back fine and my blood type was confirmed as 0 positive, which is the most common type.
Ok, results time over and now the exciting bit… listening to the heartbeat.
Now a few weeks ago a friend told me you could tell the sex from the sound of the heartbeat, if it sounds like a horse, it’s a girl and if it sounds like a train, it’s a boy.
Hearing the heartbeat was amazing, it’s the first time that you get to hear the little person growing in side of you. The midwife said it was growing well (although we knew that from the size of my bump already) and its heartbeat was nice and strong, she could even hear it kicking..
So now your wondering what it sounded like… well I would say train so if the theory’s right I’m having a boy, plus with the kicking its already practicing to join his fathers football team BPH. He will be a happy daddy.
